Brits spend record amount on day-trips in 2016


Holidaymakers spent a record-breaking amount on day trips across England in 2016 and helped to boost the economy by £45.3bn, new research by tourism agency VisitEngland has shown. The Brits have enjoyed  their day by the seaside well, many days by the seaside it seems. Figures covering  January to November 2016 show holidaymakers spent a record amount of   money on day trips, beating the previous best of £44.3bn spent in the same period in 2012, and 7 per cent more than in 2015.
